The Maintenance Mechanic Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues and repairs production and facilities equipment to ensure overall equipment reliability, plant capacity and cost control. This position utilizes PLC programming and instrumentation control design and troubleshooting. Position reports to the Maintenance Manager. The position requires working independently and with other plant personnel. At times, the Maintenance Mechanic/Technician works with and/or supervises outside contractors. Multiple levels of this role may be achieved through increased skill set and responsibility level.

Job Duties:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and on-demand repairs to maintain the production schedule and satisfy regulatory compliance.
  • Respond with urgency to assigned work and breakdowns/emergency work orders.
    • Prioritizes own work and ensures line downtime is utilized effectively to complete work and is highly motivated. Identifies non-breakdown line downtime opportunities and completes PMs and work orders during this time.
  • Able to navigate CMMS to find correct spare parts and check out them out appropriately as well as retrieve assigned work orders and close them out in the CMMS once they are complete.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment to ensure equipment reliability, optimum performance and safety.
    • 75% of equipment at high level of workmanship and other 25% with guidance and provides guidance and training to Level 1. High level of troubleshooting skills.
  • Apply experience and skills when troubleshooting.
    • Skilled in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Safely and correctly use shop tools such as, but not limited to, hand tools, drill, grinder and welder.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of maintenance shop, office and spare parts areas.
  • Perform inspections and scheduled maintenance of plant machinery and equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, waste-water systems, water treatment systems and motors).
  • Assist in the construction and installation of new equipment.
  • Uphold plant safety, health and environmental programs
  • Train operators on job aids, work instructions and total productive maintenance procedures as well as follows all maintenance job aids and work instructions.
  • Build strong working relationships with machine operators and other production employees
  • Communicates effectively to operations, maintenance, and management
    • In addition, consistently sends email descriptions of issues and solutions and updates if an on-going issue
  • Upholds and inspires adoption of company mission and values.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Job Requirements:
  • Position requires standing continuously throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, reach, walk, stoop, push, pull and lift and carry up to 50lbs. Heavier weighted items must be lifted with assistance from others or use of an appropriate lifting device.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Possess or obtain Monin supplied Forklift Certification.
  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, valves, gears, bearings, lubricants, as well as electromechanical devices and systems, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Maintenance Mechanic in a production environment (bottling preferred)
  • Associates or technical degree in electrical and mechanical preferred
  • Must be proficient in working with computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics Navision, MS Rockwell software with Control Logix 5000
  • Experience with Allen Bradley controls, Factory Talk View SCADA and liquid filling systems preferred
  • Willingness to follow OSHA safety standards to ensure a safe working environment for self and coworkers
  • Welding and/or machining experience preferred.
  • Lead serves as back up to Maintenance Manager
