VIVID COLOURS: THE INSTA-WORTHY DRINK TREND

SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY
It is no longer uncommon to see your favourite restaurants, bars, or cafes on Instagram. On the contrary, it is almost expected to be able to tap on their profiles to look through a feed awash with their famous dishes before you visit them. With fierce competition for differentiation, social media has become the platform for these places to show off their individual “personalities”. These are reflected in their decor, posts, and most importantly: what they serve.

THE VIVID FOODS PHENOMENON
How do you deem what menu item is worthy of your customers’ Instagram feed? “Instagrammable” food and drinks are those that constitute unique presentation: things that look great or stand out from the rest of its competitors’ accounts. It’s no surprise that when the colourful foods trend made an appearance in late 2018, it took Instagram by storm. From unusually-coloured cocktails to unicorn frappes, the trend’s extraordinary concept as well as its aesthetically-pleasing presentations have led to its universal popularity.

NATURAL FOOD DYES
However, alongside colourful drinks, consumer consciousness in beverage ingredients have seen a similar ascent. The demand for establishments to use natural dyes, rather than artificial colouring, have become the mainstream. Combining the trendy with sustainability is often difficult, but MONIN’s naturally-sourced flavour options gives you the best of both worlds by making your drinks both natural and vibrant. If you’re trying your hand out at curating vivid beverages, here are a few recipes to get you going!
